„Let’s do more with the things that bring us joy and tip us out of the greyness of everyday life.”

Looking through the categories, when I saw the category „Relax, no stress”, I knew that this was the one I would be able to talk and express my thoughts about really honestly and from the depths of my soul, as I’m also working hard to swim out of the stress web.

As a maximalist, it is always striving for perfection, conforming to others and the fear of failure that triggers stress and anxiety in us. We are then thrown off our mental balance, and our physical and mental health becomes upset, although we might not be conscious of it. Sometimes we can’t get on with our homework and schoolwork, and a sense of panic takes over. The parts of the brain that are responsible for stress and anxiety become heightened and prevent us from seeing clearly.

Trauma, prolonged conflict or fears can lead to serious problems and illnesses due to prolonged stress. This affects the cardiovascular system, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. It can also lead to more rapid breathing or even panic attacks. Stress also has a wide range of effects on the digestive system, including vomiting, diarrhoea and, in more severe cases, stomach ulcers. Many people turn to alcohol to relieve stress, or take up smoking, which is an additional health risk.

In today’s civilised society, everyone chases after material and financial goods, thinking that having them will bring them pleasure and happiness. Many young people find it difficult to acquire as much lexical knowledge as possible, but they cannot let go of their anxiety because they know that this is the only way they will be able to get by in the future.

I think the frantic clinging to being online and being constantly on social media platforms is a very big problem. It is a daily tension that we are confronted every day with the fact that others are better, more beautiful, smarter, more powerful, and that all of this seems unattainable to us. The younger ones can’t even make sense of all the information, they don’t know what is real and what is not. As a result, younger and younger generations are under constant stress and anxiety, which can even lead to depression.

We do not even notice that life is passing us by. Often, the goal is no longer to live, but to survive.

We need to try to sort ourselves out and let go of the things that are frustrating us. We have to accept that we can make mistakes, that we can’t always succeed. Someone once told me to live on the battlefield, where you may get a slap in the face, but you don’t run away. However, if we are scared, stressed, and only have that one particular phrase, namely the “what if” in our minds, we will run away and miss out on opportunities and experiences. Love can sometimes be the solution to everything, if someone is trapped in trauma or conflict, it is important to be surrounded by people who provide a sense of safety, love and care.

We need to know what things are really important in life and put more emphasis on them. Let’s not let the bad things take over. Let us notice the little everyday pleasures. To relieve stress, we should start doing sports, exercise and spend more time outdoors. Let’s do more of the things that bring us joy and take us out of the greyness of everyday life. We can also meditate to calm down our souls, even if only for a little while. We have to overcome ourselves, this is most difficult. When we are in trouble, we shouldn’t be afraid of asking for help and we should let people help us.

„Our mind is like a blue sky. There are days when it’s cloudy and there are days when it’s overcast and stormy, but beyond those days there will always be sunshine and clear skies, we just need to find our way back.” (Andy Puddicombe)
